restoration ecology projects

The field projects are the heart of the World Land Trust restoration ecology programme. They are designed to be practical and effective, with a direct benefit to the protection of threatened habitats and their unique biodiversity, which is the core mission of World Land Trust.
There are two main types, both carried out with local partner organisations:

• Reforestation through tree-planting. This is a major initiative involving the planting of over 500,000 native trees by WLT partner organisations. This work restores forest habitat in reserves in Ecuador, Paraguay and Brazil.
• Carbon Balanced projects. These are the projects which offset carbon dioxide emissions. Current projects are located in Ecuador and Mexico.
