free carbon emissions audit

This audit is designed to give you and WLT information about the emissions of carbon dioxide that your organisation is responsible for. In order for this research to be useful and to enable us to provide you with feedback, it is important that this form is completed as accurately as possible.

The audit information is focused on energy use (i.e. electricity, gas and other fuels) and business travel. Consequently, the most appropriate person to complete this form will have access to utility bills, as well as records of distances travelled by different forms of transport for business purposes. Following your audit submission, WLT will calculate the CO2 emissions associated with your company's operations and provide you with an audit report which details the required offset and cost to proceed.

WLT urge all organisations to implement energy reduction measures before offsetting. We take in trust that your organisation will use the information provided in the audit report to develop an emissions reduction strategy.

There is no charge for this service, but we do ask that all organisations requesting an audit submission agree to the following PDF File Terms & Conditions for assessing CO2 emissions with the World Land Trust and for use of the 'Carbon Balanced by WLT' logo.

Business Travel
Transportation is responsible for around 28% of the UK’s total carbon dioxide emissions. This section requests information to allow a calculation of the CO2 emissions associated with your organisations travel.

It is important to note that this includes travelling performed on behalf of the organisation only, e.g. NOT commuting to and from the workplace by employees etc.

Air travel is responsible for releasing large quantities of greenhouse gases into the atmosphere. The amount of carbon dioxide emissions per flight is dependent on the type of flight that you take and the distance that is travelled.

Office Based Energy Use
The other main source of business carbon dioxide emissions is through energy used to heat and power offices.

To calculate electricity and fuel use emissions we require simple figures taken directly from utility bills. It is preferable to get annual figures of electricity and fuel consumption rather than scaling up monthly or quarterly figures, as significant seasonal variations are common. If you cannot get access to your organisation’s energy bills we can use Carbon Trust standard figures and your buildings floor space to complete the calculations, however, these provide only an indication of what your CO2 emissions may be.
